Day 117 Canberra
Well today did not turn out as we had planned. We were
having breakfast and I was finishing off the

blog for the last few days. It was
a little behind due to the fact we had been travelling a lot and we had been
out late the last couple of nights socialising, so I was catching up, like now.
Anyhow, Maureen was on the web, seriously I think she is now more addicted than
I am, and there was a show listed at the local theatre, a John Williamson play
– When Dad married Fury, and suggested we go have a look tonight if we could
get tickets, then we wondered if it was disabled friendly. Up until then we
were planning on doing the War Memorial but it was now after 10 am and I was still
working on converting pictures and they were taking forever for some reason. At
that point we both suggested that maybe we spent

the day doing local stuff and
hang around Queanbeyan for the day, great minds think alike!
I finished off the blog and Maureen was doing stuff in the
van and we went for a walk down town. On our walk through the local park there
were a couple of groups. One was having a more traditional morning tea with
cakes and stuff and another group were having a different one based on grapes,
stuffed into bottles and packaged in brown bags. I thing they were regulars at
the park and at that bench and chairs. We went to the theatre and it is perfect
for me. It is a small version of the Mandurah Performing Arts but they have a
cooler name – The Q. the theatre is between the small Fish Trap and the lower
area of the main theatre. There is no up stairs area and I nd row seats that we
did not have to climb into. We booked those and they were for 8pm that night.

reckon it takes
about 500 people. The staff there were lovely and very friendly. We asked about
getting me in and they said a wheel chair was fine but the gopher was a little
big. We chatted over options and came up with a solution where we could park
the Beast outside the theatre door and we had 2
We wandered around the centre of Queanbeyan for a while and Maureen
said that she had seen an Aldi the day before and she was curious about it and
so we set of to find it. We walked down the streets and a couple of questions
to locals soon found us there. Aldi is a cross between the Spud shed and WA
Salvage but prices are hard to find. People were buying groceries and outdoor
settings and whipper snippers and alcohol and just about anything you could
think of. Maureen grabbed a few things and we headed back. We dropped into a
food area and had lunch and completed our trip back. We had a cuppa and I had a
nap. Maureen went out hunting and gathering for tea and came back with prawns
and smoked salmon so that was dinner.

On the way home |
We walked up to the theatre and arranged where we could park
the Beast and went in. the play was excellent. It is basically a family set
play were Dad, who has amassed a fortune by swindling investors out of money
before the Global Financial Meltdown, has married a girl half his age and the
sons think they are going to miss out on their inheritance. Very funny play and
a few twists and turns.
We walked back to Girt and that was the night. Tomorrow we
expect to do the War Memorial.
