Day 41 80 Mile Beach
Today was a big day, in fact it was Big Day Out day. We were
sitting around chillin when the rumour went around that a gig was on the go. The
roadies showed up and started setting up the speaker

towers (well stands for
the speaker to go on), the stage dome was erected ( 3 x 3 Gazebo) and the bands
gear was unloaded and tested ( 3 organs, 1 snare drum, Piano Accordion and a
microphone). The band list was extensive, just not known. It was great. Half a
dozen oldies who obviously do this on a regular basis. They all took turns
playing their tunes. The lady singing was just delightful, her voice was great
and she sang a few old songs, she had either an organist and drummer with her. The
guy on the piano accordion was great and had a lovely sound to it. He started
playing some old tunes then

switched up to some new ones from the 50’s! The
drummer was having a ball, he was reliving the good old days and was in a world
of his own. The ladies shared the organ duties and played a range of tunes. The
mosh pit was working overtime with the groupies swinging along. We had
originally meant to go for a few songs then go to the beach, but we stayed
until the end about 1 ½ hours.
Once the concert was over, we went down to the beach. The
Beast had dried out over night and was

ready for another go. I had been
charging her all day and we set off again. The intention was to go for a short
walk then watch the sun go down but it went a bit more than that. We went for
about 2 kms north before it started to get a little boggy for the Beast and I found
this rock outcrop. I stopped there and Maureen went for a run further up the
beach, so far up the beach she disappeared from sight. The rock outcrop was
like a

muddy section that had suddenly turned into rock, there were no
footprints in it, but you could see the shells and worm holes in it. Maureen went
off running and I watched the sun go down, no sooner than it went down than
dozens of crabs started digging out of the sand and piling up the sand.
Once back together, we set off back to camp where we had
arranged to have dinner at the café here. It

was roast beef and vegetables and
was great. We had an icecream for sweets and all was good. The internet is
still going up and down, so we are having problems loading them all. The tides
are getting bigger as when Maureen went down to the beach this morning to watch
the tide come in and it came in and in and in, it just about covered the whole
beach to the sandhills base.
