Day 50 Broome
Not the most active day but still got a bit done. Maureen headed
off early and saw the first lot of

camels with a school group. She was very,
very lucky as she was able to see the person who everyone talks about but no
one ever sees. As the camels were walking down the road, a few were doing their
morning ablutions and leaving little messages on the road and there was a lady
walking behind kicking the messages

off the road – Maureen saw “the Shit Kicker”
in real life! On her way there she wandered into Cable Beach Resort and has a squiz
around at the accommodation there. As she says, look as though you belong and
no one asks any questions.
Back at Girt I worked on yesterday’s blog and waited until
12:30 when I had booked Trude in to have

the wheel alignment done. She was
pulling a bit to the left and the front tyres where not wearing evenly. I dropped
her in and waited whilst they checked her out. An hour later the guy returned
with his report. The front was a little out and as the wheels had worn a bit,
he swapped them over and adjusted the steer for me, the back tyres were out of
plumb to so he straightened those and adjust the tow. He had a page full of

numbers and percentages and went through them all. I thanked him for all the
information and said it sounded very impressive but meant nothing to me, he
agreed but just wanted to show why he had done the work and if I ever needed it
doing again, it might be helpful. He had taken her for a couple of test drives
to check things out before

changing tyres and so on and Trude works like a
charm, he even reduced the tyre noise as well.
Back at base Maureen was tidying up Girt with all our
supplies we had bought, so when I got back, we went down to the Port. It is
pretty much as I remembered it back 30 years ago, more buildings around it now
but the jetty looks the same. The Indonesian training ship

had gone and the
tide was out, so there was not much to see. We dropped into the Hovercraft Base
and booked a tour for Thursday afternoon at 2:30 so we will do that.
On the return from this we dropped in to fill up Trude as
she was just about dry and used our first 15c discounts and saved $19! Worth the
effort.
Doug came over for tea tonight and he is the reason this
posting is late as we sat around and chatted until late, just lost track of
time, a great way to finish the day.
