Day 66

Day 66 Lake Argyle

Well Maureen completed her morning walk and has some great pictures. Whilst she was away I got

on to writing the blog for yesterday, I was too tired last night. The little boy from across the way got to ride his bike without trainer wheels for the first time and although we were all impressed and cheered him on, he was not so sure and said it was not as much fun as he thought it would be! Such is life. The people next to us have a little van that is covered in artificial turf, that’s right all over. I thought it was one of

those greenie statements but when Maureen spoke to them it was because the van needed a good paint job and they did not know how to paint it, hence the turf! All I could think of was the wind resistance. The walk Maureen did was the St Georges Terrace 5km walk that skirted around the little bay we overlook and past the Durack House (not in its original location as that is under water but was relocated stone by stone) and onto a point opposite us before sweeping back to camp. The views were spectacular

and she got lots of good shots. The trail was often hard to find on some of the rockier parts and the going was like 4wd for hikers but she made it round and back and had a good time.

The afternoon we spent driving around Lake Argyle.  Before we left Maureen got the old Enjo glove out and a bucket of water and gave Girt a good going over. You would not recognise here now, no mud on her. I did some checks on Trude and added a litre of oil, she was down a bit so I bought a litre the other day. As per usual with the Pajero, nothing is easy. Most oil inlets are on top so

1 litre containers are no problems, but on the Pajero it is halfway down the motor an surrounded by tubes and fittings. In my best male ‘ I can do this without a funnel’ I managed to get most of the litre in the motor and only a little on the exhaust manifold. It burnt off that afternoon. Coolant was full and the transmission oil was perfect. So we decided to go for a drive. We went to the lookouts at the dam wall then over

the wall to see the hydro power station then down to some lovely picnic areas that we will have to go back to with a picnic. We drove out past the old homestead that as I say has been transported from its original site to here but it was closed for the season. We then went out to an observation point in the next bay, the name escapes me at the moment but it was named after one of the original aboriginal stockmen. The track is very rough in some parts but Trude just ate it up and got us to the point, again great views of that part of the dam.

The path
Aboriginal rock art or path marker?
