Day 75 Kakadu
Well not a big day, but we did manage to fill it in. We had
a lazy breakfast and afterwards I gave

Trude a bubble bath. I had been
promising her one for a while but this was the first chance we have had where
she was in the shade and there was plenty of water. It took a while, but she
got a good once over and wash off and looks a million dollars. We then took her
for a drive. There is a resort down the road in the shape of a crocodile so we
thought we would go grab a coffee and see what it was like. We went in and went
to the restaurant which was nice and the guy gave us a menu – we thought they
had a smorgasbord with cold meats, but that was for the tour groups going by. The
menu had a dish of crocodile and gnocchi

so we decided to put the coffee off and try a dish to share
plus a drink. We had our meal which was nice, but not much crocodile. We were
joking that Maureen would go out to the car and start it and I would run out
and we would do a runner, but when we went up to pay we waited for a while then
I said I would go to the car and get it started and if she gave me 10 minutes
start, come running out and we would be off. Well I waited my 10 minutes and
Maureen came out – we got a free lunch. The guy came up to charge us and could
not get the computer to work, another lady came over and also could not get it
to work either and the guy said don’t worry about lunch ma’am, I will fix it
and walked off and so did Maureen, if only we had known we would have spent up
big!
Back at camp, we had a cuppa and rang home to catch up with
our kids. Tia is a bit nervous about her trip coming up so we went through it
with her to reassure her she would be fine. Tim was also there so we had a chat
with him as well. We also had a chat with the gardener here who was setting up
a sprinkler next to us and he told us what time to go to Cahills Crossing
tomorrow to watch the crocodiles. If you get there when the tide comes in, they
sit on the side of the crossing and eat the fish coming in with the tide. 4.45
is the time so that is booked for

tomorrow. We then thought about the other
tours available to do so we sat down and discussed a couple. As we were going
to Cahills Crossing there was a river tour there so that was one and the tour
down at Yellow River was also recommended so we will do that one the day after.
Both are about 45kms from here but in different directions. Maureen went to the
office and booked those and we went for a swim. We are now cooking our tea,
chicken sausages and will probably go for one more swim before going to bed. Maureen
said that she just watched the sun go down, but it did not come out in the
pictures, but she did see a blue winged Kookaburra (thought she had better in
case someone growled at her) but

they don’t laugh (according to the guide at
Geikie Gorge), so not much of a Kookaburra.
