Day 79 Darwin
Well you will see that there are no pictures today and in
about 3 seconds you will know why, we did not do much today worthy of pictures.
We had breakfast sitting outside our van and after that Maureen went up to the
office to see if we could move to an en-suite site. The toilet block was too
far away for me to walk in the dark and our neighbours were grumbling about our
air con being noisy, personally I was going to tell them to, well let’s say,
move on them selves or words to that effect as we turned the air con off last
night and just ran our fan, but it was not a good night and I had got out of
bed on the wrong side, difficult being that there was only one side to get out!
We found out that for $1 more a night we could move to an en-suite site, so we
did. Up came the water drainage and power and the odds and sods and off we
went. The young couple who were on our other side left this morning as well. We
had a chat to them last night. They came from Bunbury and have been on the road
now for over 6 months and had intended like us to zoom around by now but had
such a good time in WA that they were just here. They had done all the side
trips into beaches and bays and had some great stories. They had rented a house
and were moving in there until after the wet and then moving on. As per usual
it started to rain on their tent. There are three of them, the girl is a
hairdresser and the two guys are an electrician and the other a plunber, all
have jobs now until after the wet.
We moved in to our new site and set up home. We moved the
ice maker into the laundry area and set it in motion, I am now the ice king of
Darwin. The thing is a lot bigger than I thought (don’t tell Maureen) bit
bigger than a bread maker but far more useful. We then decided to drive into
town. We went over to Casuarina, the shopping centre not the prison and I got
to see the food hall whilst Maureen explored for a couple of hours (no pictures
there) at least it was air conditioned, then we drove into Darwin City area and
I got to sit outside the Hilton Hotel for an hour in the sun ( no picture there
either) whilst Maureen shopped and then I got to sit outside of Target for a
while in the shade (no pictures here either) and then we went to Woolies for
some stuff for tea and then came home. So no pictures today I am afraid. When we
got home Chinook the eskimo had been busy and there was a tray full of ice, so we
sat down and had a cold drink and rang our kids, well Tia anyway as the others
were out. Tia is getting ready for Bali so it is all ago at home with packing
and stuff, very exciting times. And that was the day, the day we took no
pictures.
