Day 19

Day 19 – Exmouth

Out shopping

All lined up for a bath, including the shoes
Well it was a quiet day today. It started very late for me, about 9:30 and Maureen a lot earlier. We had a slow breakfast following which I decided to clean out the back of the Pajero. I got the gopher out and put her on charge. I then got the dust pan broom and brushed off the piles (literally) of red dust. Once that was done, I then emptied everything out. I brushed out the sand and dust and the back

looked smick. The new winch I had installed to pull in the gopher has died and I decided to remove it. We had used seat belts to install the winch and with a few grunts and some choice observations, it was out! I have rewound the rope on but I am now not sure what to do with it. It is a bulky item and heavy, I am sure I will find something to do with it.

Having got the winch out I then wired up my power converter a bit more permanently. That now sits where the winch was with pride of place. In general we sat around and pottered. Maureen darned up a pair of pants she had torn and painted her toe nails, whilst I played with the car.

We have been considering booking a Whale Shark cruise but the weather has not been good the last few days with strong winds and the forecast was not saying it
was going to change. In the end we decided to bight the bullet and book one. I will be going along as an observer so $570 later we are now booked on tomorrow’s cruise. I did look at doing an ultra-light flight but they were $199 for 30 minutes so I decided instead to do one somewhere else like Darwin etc.  Whilst we were booking, the lady remarked that for the last few days, most of her clients had been either German or Mandurah people. We then went to the shops and stocked up for the coming week and grabbed a coffee. We were very disappointed that the Kailis shop did not have any fresh fish! But we did buy a Kilo of small frozen prawns for $15.

Back at base we took the all the girls down for a bath. Trude got a good scrubbing and shampoo, the Beast got a bubble bath and Mate a wipe over, all spick and span! Maureen has cooked another roast for tea whilst I am doing the blog. Tomorrow is very exciting and we have an early start with a 7am pick up.
