Day 30 Postscript

Day 30 P.S.

I know we already posted our page for the day, but we felt that we had to do a postscript for today. We last we spoke, Maureen was off down the beach for the sunset and I was doing the blog whilst I

was playing with Maureen’s present, the generator. Since then we have had a lovely evening. We started by moving my chair closer to the sand dune edge so I could see the whole view, whilst the site is excellent in most ways, the sand is very coarse and has no body, so walking is a real challenge for me as it does not hold together well. The view here is fabulous! To our left we have the lights of Karratha, well not actually lights, the glow of lights behind the hill. There is

also the Gas flare from the packaging plant at the Burrup Peninsular, to our right there is the glow of Roebourne’s lights and in the middle just stars. We hope they keep this area as is. We saw no ships on the horizon all day, so shipping lanes do not come close.

We had a glass of wine whilst the sun went down and the gazillion stars came out. We think there is a problem with the wine up here. Before we went to Karratha, we would have a glass of wine each night and the bottle would last 4 days. We used the wine glasses out of the picnic set that Maureen’s

EA, Jenny had bought us (thanks Jen we use it every day) but in Karratha we bought some wine and they gave us a set of wine glasses for free, now we have a glass of wine each night and the bottle only lasts 2 nights, we think the bottles must shrink in the heat or the new glasses allow the wine to evaporate faster! We took a picture (well actually a whole series of pictures, see below ) of us with our new glasses – must speak to Ruddy about doing selfies, not got that down pat yet.

Me playing with my sausages
Whilst sitting and sipping and enjoying the view we rang our friend Grant to see how his dad was, he had suffered a heart attack following a disastrous holiday and had undergone surgery.  It was good to hear from Grant not only that his dad was doing well but also catch up on the gossip. It is a shame that we are moving on soon as his daughter Courtney has landed a dancing job at Karratha, we assume for the Festival and we won’t be there to see her, Devo!

The problem with no being mobile, you become a sitting target, quite literally as I was sitting there, Maureen decided it was time for tea and I might as well cook it. She took a picture of me playing with my sausages, something she says I am very good at. No sooner than we started we got a phone call from our other good friend Rob, Crooky had read our blog and wanted to say hello whilst we were in range. Again, good to catch on the gossip although it was a little different from Grant’s version, apparently the kids have let out the spare room and sheds to number of families! All good I suppose, they need to pay the bills somehow.

Well I suppose that is about it for the day now. It was good to hear from our friends, tomorrow I might try the suggestions to use the gopher on the beach to run some lures behind, ready for 80 mile beach!
Trying to get a selfie

Over a bit

Bit more and look down

Not Bad, but your eyes are shut

Bloody cable

Just give up!
