Day 21

Day 21
Sturt Peas
Well you would think a simple drive from Exmouth to Coral Bay (155Km) would be pretty uneventful and you would be right. We packed up at Exmouth and headed into town for a quick stop at the Post Office to drop off some postcards and get some ID Certified, over to the chemist to get the old prescriptions filled and away, well all went well until the chemist, 1 hour wait, so we did. Dropped in to the Exmouth Diving Centre and picked up copies of the pictures and movies from yesterday, see day 20 ½ or them. Whilst there we were parked in the Exmouth Bowling Club car park, look out the window and they have this magnificent garden full of Sturt Peas, have a look at the picture!

Off to Coral Bay! 155 Kms later with no hiccups, drove into town. Road in
Coral Bay Turnoff
is vastly different from last time we were here. It is sealed all the way in, no sand tracks or gravel roads here thankyou very much. We are staying at Bay View Caravan Park, well laid out, neater than I last recall and no where near as dusty. They have spent a lot of time and water growing lawn everywhere. The roads into the park are all paved, very little

At the beach
dust at all. Maureen booked us in, came out with a list of rules etc – had to sign a sheet saying she had read them all. There is also a Holmes Clause – no loud conversations in the park!

With in 25 minutes we were backed in and setup, power, drainage, popped roof, awning out and sitting down to a lovely lunch of prawns (Maureen dropped into Kailis’ and they had them on special for $12kg not saying how many we bought, but we ate 1.5kg for lunch and have some left over). Pigged out on them and then settled down for a siesta to let

them digest, talk about living it rough on the road!

After lunch settled we got the Beast out of Trude and headed off to the beach. The bay is just as we remembered it. Lovely sweep to it with a drop off. It was too windy to swim so I went off for a wander
Marina in South Bay
on the Beast to South Bay. The tide was out so it was easyish to get along the beach and round the point. I could not get all the way down, but quite a long way.

Maureen caught up with me there and growled at me for wandering off without telling her – I really had only intended to go up to the boats in the bay, but the beach was flat and I just kept going a little bit further. I had wondered where they launched the boats as there is a big sign

saying no driving on the beach and the mystery was solved. They have built a small marina in South

Back off the beach

Bay opposite the entrance there and there was this big flotilla of boats moored there. We will pack a picnic and go down there to see what is there.
Park road with block paving
Maureen left me there and wandered off further down the bay, I could not go any further so I had to head back. So much fun on the gopher! The sand makes you use a bit more power than usual but no problems getting there and back, best present EVER!!! The beach to the north looks rockier so I doubt I will be able to go much further that way, will have a look tomorrow.
