Day 27 Dampier
A not so busy day, after all the festivities of last night,
we had a slow day today. Maureen was up and

out for an early walk as usual. After
breakfast we reviewed the options available to us and decided we needed to
visit the Visitor Centre, so off we went. The centre is good with options
available for day trips about, but they only run certain days and those are Monday
to Friday and we are only here Monday before we depart for Millstream. We adjourned
to the Shopping Centre for a coffee to think

about it. We decided on a Port to
Port tour and I was to book it whilst Maureen went off to look around for some
essentials we needed.
Unfortunately the only tour on Monday was full so we are not
able to do that. Following this we left to go back to camp and rethink our day.
We spent the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the views from the park of the
bulk carriers coming and going, absolutely fabulous. We spotted a Spinifex Pigeon
that we are sure is the same one following us around, check out the photo. It is
definitely acting suspiciously and runs off when we look at it . We

went down
for a ride at sunset, it was supposed to be earlier but Mate (Maureen’s bike)
had blown a tyre. All hands on deck to find where we had stored the tubes and
repair kit. Found and new tyre installed – did not help that we had the wrong
diameter tube 1.75 – 2.1 instead of 1.25, but hey it was just a challenge to be
mastered. Off we went and saw another bulk carrier going out and all the lights
on the ships coming on.

We went down to the boat ramp to watch small boats come in
from fishing, a mean person would say that they all had good days and had met
limits without problems, a meaner person would not say what type and size they
had, sorry Rob. From the ramp we went to the nearby oval and watched the kids
playing T-Ball, had a ball watching the teams play under lights. We adjourned
to the van for the night for dinner. Tomorrow we need to get a bit more
organised and do some house keeping with finances when the banks open and set
ourselves up a bit more for the remote camping coming up.
